The Daily Record’s newly launched north-east freesheet has changed its name after a rival publishing group complained. The Aberdonian launched two weeks ago will now be known as Aberdeen Now after a re-draw. The company issued the following statement online:
THANK you readers for your support in ensuring the launch of our new title was a fantastic success.
We received a warm welcome from the people of Aberdeen who were impressed by the smart design, quality of writing and, of course, local voices.
You will have noticed the name of the paper has changed from last week.
The extra competition upset another newspaper group who have trade-marked the name The Aberdonian, so we re-christened our baby Aberdeen Now.
It may have a different name but our message is the same whether you live in the city, work in the city or come to the city to socialise: It’s a paper for all Aberdonians.
Again, thank you for your backing. We hope you enjoy this edition of Aberdeen Now.
