A CALLOUS lawyer was behind bars last night facing up to 10 years in
jail after stealing £667,000 from clients.
Rogue Kenny Forster’s lavish life of luxury ended last night as he
began a new life in Glasgow’s notorious Barlinnie Prison.
At the city’s High Court it was revealed that Forster, 54, took over
his father’s Stranraer law firm – Ferguson & Forster, MacFie &
Alexander – in 1987.
Then, for a decade, Forster stole from clients’ wills, robbed charities
and churches of legacies and stole compensation awards made to accident
Judge Lord Emslie heard that Forster ploughed the cash into a farm he
planned to turn into a housing development.
He even spent £10,000 to hire Culzean Castle in Ayrshire for his
Forster pleaded guilty to 40 charges, ranging from embezzling £667,000
to offences under the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Act.
Prosecutor Mark Stewart said: “The accused enjoyed a good lifestyle,
living in a large house with an outdoor swimming pool and landscaped
“He took regular foreign holidays.
“He sent all five children to boarding school.”
Forster was caught after farmer’s widow Mrs Margaret Shankland
complained to the Law Society that he had overcharged her £8,500 for a
Lord Emslie rejected a defence plea for Forster, of Thornbank Road,
Stranraer, to have his bail continued until sentence.
